Dr Dimitrios Tzelepis is the CTO and co-founder of SMPnet. His main research and professional activities span across the area of power system protection, automation and control of future electricity grids, incorporating increased penetration of renewable energy sources and high voltage direct current interconnections. His main research methods include implementation of intelligent algorithms for protection, fault location and control applications including the utilisation of machine learning methods and advanced and intelligent signal processing techniques. He is also interested in the application, control and protection of hybrid AC/DC grids including super-conducting feeders, non-homogeneous transmission lines and advanced sensing technologies. Additionally, he is investigating potential solutions towards the optimised performance of active distribution networks both in off-grid and on-grid modes, to facilitate a wide suite of grid services and control capabilities.
