Gianluca Fulli

Deputy Head, Energy Security, Distribution and Markets Unit at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)

Gianluca Fulli is Deputy Head of the Energy Security, Distribution and Markets Unit at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC), where he leads the activities of the Smart Electricity Systems and Interoperability team.
He is involved in several projects and initiatives on smart/power grids and digital energy, including those linked with the European Green Deal, the Clean Energy Package, the Horizon2020/Europe Programmes and the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan.
He has 20+ year-experience in the power system field and also worked with: Politecnico di Torino, lecturing on electricity security, digitalisation and blockchains, the Italian transmission system operator (TERNA), on power system planning and development; the UK gas & electricity company (NGT), on renewable integration studies; and IBM, on software for distributed devices management.
He co-authored 100+ scientific publications and holds electrical engineering university (La Sapienza, Rome) and PhD (Politecnico di Torino) degrees.
